Our pastor
Our pastor, Daniel A. Witte (rhymes with “witty”), arrived in the area with his wife Debbie and their four children in June 2001. Now they're a family of eight:

Pastor Witte holds a 1988 Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis on theology and on ancient Greek and Hebrew. He graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1992, and has completed most of the work for a Master of Sacred Theology degree.

While a student, Pastor Witte assisted with growing Lutheran churches in Streamwood, Illinois, Marietta, Georgia and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From July 1992 through May 2001 he served as pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Downers Grove, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago).

Pastor Witte has extensive training and experience in
  • Christ-centered preaching,
  • teaching students of all ages,
  • administering a church and elementary school,
  • counseling and encouraging.

God has called him, above all, to serve others with God’s Word and sacraments and with prayer.

"Dan," to his friends, Pastor Witte enjoys family outings, reading, singing and bicycling.

For seven years he has coached recreational teams in the Braden River Soccer league.

He also coordinates a committee that oversees and tries to enhance worship in our synod's churches in Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.

It may take a miracle for Pastor Witte’s beloved Chicago Cubs to win the World Series, but he’s glad to be in an area where he can catch other teams’ spring training games.
